Reduce or eliminate feelings of depression 

Depression is an extremely debilitating condition that affects how you think, feel and behave. Many people have gone through depression without seeking help, trying to cope alone or taking anti-depressants and finding that they still feel awful. I work with people with depression to really make a difference in their life.

I can help you to free yourself from addictive thoughts, feelings and behaviours 

Most people know from their own personal experience when something has become addictive for them…
When you can’t stop doing what you know isn’t helping you,
When what you are doing is actually making things worse,
When you find yourself rationalising that you have it under control and it’s not so bad… but then end up doing it again… and the worse it gets the more you have to do it…

At this point it’s probably time to admit that you are in the grip of addiction. Whether or not it may be medically defined as an addiction isn’t really the issue here as I work with people who ‘feel’ they are in the grip of an addiction and know that they want to change this.

My Approach
I am almost 100% in agreement with the principles and beliefs of 12 Step Fellowship for dealing with addiction. (I.e. Alcoholics Anonymous, Over-eaters Anonymous, Debters Anonymous, Codependence Anonymous etc.) I work with people already in Recovery or wanting support to do this yet I also understand that many clients don’t want to take this path.

The 12 Step Principles encourage people to find abstinence a day at a time by adopting the attitudes and behaviours of those who are already successfully dealing with their addictions in their lives. They offer support, focus on Soulful self connection and stop the isolation.

They also encourage people to develop a better relationship with themselves, with others around them and thirdly, with any form or. Erosion of a Higher Power that works for them. These elements along with the 12 steps are seen as the corner stones of recovery. (Please note that all 12 step programmes such as AA etc. are spiritual not religious programmes).

Where I differ in my beliefs…

I believe that (even if you have what we call ‘an addictive personality’ or brain chemistry) people in the grip of addiction truly benefit from Therapeutic Life Coaching and the use of modern techniques to help them to get to their underlying pain and to clear and heal what is driving them to the addictive thoughts and behaviours.

I believe that when you deal with what’s making you need to keep yourself away from your inner most feelings (by becoming caught up with your addiction) then the addiction itself can recede and it will start to lose its power over you.

So what are you having trouble with?
People are unique in terms of what they feel they are ‘addicted’ to. Some people go through their whole lives being addicted to things like tv soaps or football. But the important thing is that if it isn’t causing them any pain or making their life unmanageable then it’s not a problem for them.

But if the addiction is problematic, especially when the behaviours or substances make life unmanageable they mostly fall into the following categories;
Food (too much, too little, specific foods, eating issues)
Relationships (avoiding them, being dependant on them, being consistently hurt in them, not being able to leave or end them, having them dominate your whole life, cheating, lies, drama, dishonesty)
Drugs (prescription and illegal)
Money (Spending/shopping/saving money/obsessing about money)
Cleaning.. etc…

I work with you on these issues to help you to change yourself from within.

Being a child can be tough and also being a parent can be tough. We can have painful childhood experiences despite having loving parents with the best intentions. While some of us have less than loving parents.

Sometimes our childhood was troubled by events and experiences that no one had any control over. Things happen in life, tragedy, misunderstanding, humiliations, events that scare or hurt us. No one knows what will leave a lasting mark. As children we had to live through whatever trouble there was and cope as best we could. Sometimes the troubles of childhood are inflicted upon us by those very people that we are looking to, to keep us safe and to make us feel ok. Whether they did or didn’t do their best it turned out that it hurt us.

As adults, we can find ourselves either not recognising the link between our current struggles and our childhood issues or letting those feelings and experiences continue to haunt us as we don’t want to admit to them or to revisit them.
When we carry old feelings and old hurts around like this it they can define how we experience our life in the present.
It can define how we experience ourselves and others.
It can define the lives we create, what we attract, who we end up befriending, working with, marrying… it can influence our luck, our attitudes, our health, our beliefs, our thought processes… and yet it doesn’t have to.

Grief is a normal, healthy and appropriate feeling when we experience loss. Often people assume that we shouldn’t seek help for grieving, that we should live in the pain of it as proof that we love who or what we have lost. Yet often it can just feel too big and too painful. Or we find that time alone just isn’t healing it, so we can need help with it.

People may tell you that it will take a year or two to feel better, which is often true if you don’t seek help. Yet the truth is that you can feel radically different in just one to three sessions.

So you don’t need to deal with this alone… I can help you.

There are five recognised stages of grieving (shock/denial, anger/pain, bargaining/guilt, depression/longing and acceptance/restructuring) and you may need support working through them, you may be stuck cycling around them over and over or you may struggle with one stage more than another.

The trouble with grief is that we often complicate things for ourselves without realising that this is what we are doing. It’s easy to get in a muddle with our grief because it is such a strong and debilitating emotion, it hurts so much and it carries such a charge around it.

  • We tell ourselves that this is the only way through.
  • Perhaps we think that we don’t deserve to feel any better as we feel guilty for being angry at the person or life that we have lost.
  • Or we are scared to feel better for we worry that if we feel better it means that we didn’t care deeply enough for the person/life we have lost.
  • Sometimes we simply can’t accept our loss. We can’t come to terms with a death or the end of a relationship or situation.
  • Often when a relationship ends and your partner simply moves on with their lives we are unable or unwilling to move on ourselves.

You TRULY can sleep BETTER

There are several different types of sleeping problems – which do you suffer from?

  • Inability to get to sleep

  • Being unable to get back to sleep once woken
  • Not being able to sleep in alternative locations
  • Shift work affecting sleeping
  • Bad habits of going to bed later than intended

Resolving what is troubling you will help you sleep more quickly, soundly and peacefully. I will suggest you help yourself by doing as much of the following as possible. The brain is an electrical receiver and is stimulated by light, so…

  • Turn your mobile phone off at night
  • Put cordless phones back in their base station
  • Turn off computers and avoid computer/phone/tablet screens an hour before bed
  • Minimise electrical items close to the head of the bed
  • Turning the TV off (Ideally remove it from the bedroom)

However, once outside interference has been eliminated as a contributory factor then Life Coaching, EFT Tapping, Time Line Therapy,® NLP and Hypnosis can be used in several different ways to allow you to sleep better. We can…
